THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT APPROVED DECENTRALIZATION OF POWER IN UKRAINE

The Constitutional Court of Ukraine declared the draft amendments to the basic law of the country in terms of decentralization legitimate and sent it to MPs for reconsideration. To remind, the amendments were presented by President Petro Poroshenko in early July. casinoin.

The judges held consultations from Monday and concluded that these amendments do not controvene the provisions of the Constitution and do not impose limitations on the rights of citizens. The document stipulates that source of power has to be the local communities, who themselves will collect taxes and allocate budgets. The Regional and District Administrations will be eliminated. The state will also be represented at the local level by the Prefect Institute. The President promised that Donbas will have no special status.
