Patrolmen are working in Kyiv since 4th of July. On the 27th of August they will also start working in Odessa, from 28th of August in Lviv. Approaches used in the establishment of new police are of a very professional recruitment, Prime Minister believes that same approaches should be used for the establishment of new army. That’s why he instructed the minister of defense Stepan Poltorak to calculate how much will the establishment cost. According to PM:
“The country also needs high-quality professional army. In order to do so I instructed the Minister of Defence to begin calculations on the restructuring to the existing army to a classic professional army and development of a new training system and a new system for mobilizing Ukrainian troops.”
To remind, earlier the establishment of contract army was proposed by the interior minister Arsen Avakov. In his opinion, the army will not be efficient, if people not willing to serve are enlisted. Today in Ukraine people from 20 to 27 years are called up for military service. The President today amended his decree on demobilization of Ukrainian troops. The soldiers of first and second waves of mobilization can continue to serve their country, if they are willing to.
