According to President Petro Poroshenko, the main purpose of his meeting with Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel and President of France Francois Hollande is to coordinate rigid actions aimed at the cessation of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.

“The key task of the Ukrainian authorities is to form a powerful international coalition that will stop the aggressor. These clearly coordinated actions are related both to countering the aggression in the East of Ukraine and non-recognizing the annexation of Crimea,” the Head of State told journalists.

The President informed that the meeting in the capital of Germany will be held at the initiative of Ukraine. “We are displeased with the non-fulfillment of the key items of commitments undertaken by the Russian party, inter alia, the withdrawal of heavy artillery,” Petro Poroshenko said.

The Head of State underlined the need for providing appropriate conditions for the work of the OSCE SMM. “We must provide the OSCE representatives with unimpeded access to all sites of shelling in order to demonstrate resolute actions of the global community on ensuring peace for the Ukrainian citizens,” the President noted.

As stated by Petro Poroshenko, Ukraine will draw special attention to the non-recognition of the annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, which has become particularly topical after another illegal visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the peninsula.

An important issue of the meeting’s agenda will be the coordination of actions on the establishment of the visa-free regime with the EU for Ukrainians. The Head of State informs that the Ukrainian party has conveyed a report on the fulfillment of its commitments. Now, Ukraine is waiting for the arrival of the assessment missions of the EU. “Ukraine must provide a report on the actions made and finish the commitments that are to be completed in the framework of the plan of actions. These commitments will touch upon anti-corruption activities, improvement of the judiciary and reformation of the national legislation that will ensure the implementation of technical tasks agreed upon with the EU leaders in the course of the Ukraine-EU Summit,” Petro Poroshenko noted.
